The Origin
Hawaii Liu spent 10 years connecting Bay Area event organizers with student volunteers : not as a program, but as a natural part of community work. The students who kept coming back weren't just building résumés. They were becoming the people employers actually want to hire. No program was measuring this. Verity was built to.
9th Grade
A student from a Verity partner school shows up to their first community event. They're nervous. They don't know anyone. But they show up : and that moment begins an 8-year record no essay, test score, or application could ever capture.
The Middle Years
Event after event, year after year, Verity's longitudinal dataset grows. Every appearance logged. Every reliability signal recorded. What looks like volunteering from the outside is, to Verity, the most honest performance data in workforce development.
Senior Year & College
Years of service become scholarships, employer introductions, and a professional record that travels. Not because a student applied : but because they earned it, one event at a time. That's the difference between Verity and every other program.
The Return
Students who started as 9th graders in 2016 are now working professionals : and still showing up to Verity events with nothing left to earn. A 100% organic alumni network is the most powerful proof point a program can have. You can only build it one event at a time, over ten years.
The Foundation
A decade of community before a single dollar of funding.
Organic. De-risked. Proven by observation.
Entry Point
Free to join. No application. Just show up.
The observation begins on day one.
The Dataset
Behavioral data no competitor can replicate.
Not self-reports. Real events. Real records.
The Reward
Three-tier scholarships. Employer introductions. A career foundation.
Earned through action, not application.
The Alumni
100% organic. Still here. Still giving back.
This is what the Return looks like.
Verity wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built at community events (night markets, health fairs, galas) by two people who kept showing up long before there was a name for what they were doing.
Hawaii Liu
Co-Founder & Executive Director
"I watched it happen for ten years before I put a name on it. The students who kept showing up became the people employers actually want to hire."
Hawaii Liu
Co-Founder · Executive Director
Hawaii (Huayi) Liu started connecting Bay Area event organizers with student volunteer groups in 2016 : not as a program, but as a natural extension of his work in volunteer management. What he noticed over the following years wasn't in any report: students who kept coming back were developing something no résumé could capture.
Nobody was tracking it. So Hawaii started a spreadsheet. Then another. Volunteer hours, events attended, patterns of reliability across years. What began as notes became a longitudinal dataset unlike anything else in Bay Area youth development.
With a background in business, accounting, and over a decade of community service coordination, Hawaii also runs a marketing agency serving small businesses and nonprofits. Verity formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in December 2025 : but the foundation was laid in 2016, one event at a time.
Anh Nguyen
Co-Founder & Program Manager
"We started this together. Ten years of showing up : behind the curtain, on the stage, and everywhere in between."
Anh Nguyen
Co-Founder · Program Manager
Anh has been building Verity from behind the curtain since the beginning. What started as stage manager's assistant work at early community events evolved, through demonstrated excellence, into full professional stage management, and eventually into the Program Manager role she holds today.
Professionally rooted in data operations, Anh brings systems thinking and operational precision that turns ten years of observations into usable data. She's the reason events run cleanly, volunteers are deployed effectively, and the infrastructure holds together as Verity scales.
Ten years of working alongside Hawaii means Anh understands the Verity model not as a policy document but as lived experience : watching the same students grow from nervous 9th graders into professionals.
Verity connects students to opportunity, organizers to reliable volunteers, employers to verified talent, and corporations to measurable community impact.
Verity is not an extracurricular checkbox. It's an 8-year observation that rewards students who prove, through action, not words, that they're ready for the professional world.

Staying Because It's Real
Working professionals who still volunteer. Nothing left to earn : except belonging to something that was worth building over a decade.
100% OrganicVerity operates across the core Bay Area : active programming in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Milpitas, and San Francisco. Growing presence in the East Bay and broader Peninsula.
6% of an addressable market of 170+ high schools : achieved with zero institutional funding. Hover a city to explore status.
Scholarships aren't awarded because a student applied : they're awarded because the record said so. Students earn eligibility through cumulative hours, event history, and a maintained 3.2+ GPA. Covers 4-year universities, community colleges, and trade/vocational programs.
Designed to award quarterly
Smaller awards distributed quarterly to students who meet hour and GPA benchmarks in that window. Designed for ongoing recognition and financial support : not just a single year-end prize. Consistency is rewarded in real time.
Designed to award annually
Larger annual awards for students who demonstrate sustained commitment across the full academic year, ranked by the cumulative volunteer hour leaderboard, weighted by event diversity and reliability metrics. The ranking system exists today.
Endowment-funded · Long-term goal
Full scholarships for students with the strongest multi-year records in the dataset. The endowment goal of $15–20M sustains 10 full-ride scholarships annually in perpetuity. Every student who would receive one has already proven it, in the field, over years. We just need the funding to tell them.
Programs can be replicated. Volunteers can be recruited. But ten years of longitudinal behavioral data and an organic alumni network cannot be created overnight.
Longitudinal Behavioral Dataset
Behavioral observations across hundreds of students from 2016 to today : documented in professional settings, across real events, year after year. Not self-reported. Not inferred. This is Verity's irreplaceable moat. It will inform scholarship decisions, employer introductions, and corporate compliance documentation : all at once.
Organic Alumni Network
Students who started as high school freshmen in 2016 are now working full-time : and still showing up to Verity events with nothing left to earn. Not because anyone is asking them to. You cannot manufacture this. You can only earn it, one event at a time, over ten years.
Market Penetration · Zero Funding
Seven partner high schools and five partner colleges across the Bay Area : achieved entirely without institutional funding. That's 6% of an addressable market of 170+ high schools and 61+ colleges. Built through community relationships, word of mouth, and the proof that comes from showing up for ten years.
Donors aren't a community Verity serves : they're the people who make everything possible. Every scholarship, every tracked student, every employer introduction exists because someone believed a decade before the results were visible.
Verity achieved 6% Bay Area market penetration before receiving a single institutional dollar. That's not a pitch : it's proof. What your investment buys is infrastructure, permanence, and scale.
